I am 5 years out with having the lapband placed. Lost 25 lbs. initially
but was having problems with to tight fills...........so my dr took some
out...put a little back in..unfortunately with all of this fooling around
have gained the weight back, plus. Tody I am talking to my primary dr to
see if I can get a referral to have the gastric bypass done. I understand
your frustrations....hang in there.

I had lapband surgery in Aug., 2004. From the beginning I had constant
acid reflux, pain when trying to eat, vomiting, and night coughing. Tried
to live with it, thinking I was doing something wrong. After 2 1/2 years
of this, the lapband was removed by emergency surgery. I was told that it
either wasn't put in the right place or it had slipped. My surgeon left
the port and hose in place and promised to replace the lapband after
allowing my stomach to heal for 3 months, but I was never able to get this
done. In the meantime I did more research and decided to have gastric
bypass instead. Had a hard time finding another surgeon who would fix all
this and do a revision. But, I finally got it done in May, 2008 (after
regaining all the weight lost plus more) and I have never regretted it! I
lost 110 lbs. and have not had any problems. Have maintained the
weightloss and feel so great!! If at all possible, I would suggest having
the gastric bypass done at the same time as having the band removed. It'll
be well worth it! Good luck to you!

I had the lap band for almost two years only lost 30lbs gain that back plus
some. I went in at 260lbs for lapband. I was vomiting everyday all day. I
got the band out and got the bypass almost 11 months ago May 11, 2010 down
86lbs loving it. You had that too long get it out. You will feel better
inside and out.
