Question:
has anyone gained 10lbs over 3-4days?
I've had a bad few days of eating, a friends baby shower, valentines party and all the fun foods co-workers brought in to munch on in the valentines spirit. I indulged...ALOT and when I stepped on the scale it said I had gained 10lbs. not even during my cruise did I put on that much weight. Is it possible? isn't one pound 3500 calories. So that means I would have to have eaten 35000 extra calories in 3-4 days. Can this really happen from a medical viewpoint? Will it come off quickly or will I struggle? — heavenlyhash (posted on February 15, 2011)

I try to stay on track, and I watch the scale like a hawk. I hit the gym
at least once a day. My greatest fear is gaining weight back and having to
shop in the plus sizes. Most of my friends would not tempt me with
forbidden foods, and I am pretty well disciplined.

Whatever Carla said, is what I do too, but I do not go to the gym, I do my
own regime. But I am so scared of gaining. If I gain one lb I cut back on
carbs the next day and boom I am down again.
You need to see your NUT and perhaps go to a support group, you had major
surgery and sacrificed so much, do not throw it a way.

I have the same problem except I just started eating the wrong foods and
slowly gained weight. It is so scary I thought it would be harder to gain
but nope. I have went back to my Doctor and have started on a strick diet
and excercise program Ijust do not want to go back to the way I was. I feel
for you catch it now before it is out of control. I wish I had never went
off my diet or new life style. I am guessing you have to stay on the
limited protein diet to stay thin. But I know it is worth it in the long
run.

I just saw my doctor and he says you need to stay on mostly lean proteins,
no carbs to keep losing weight..add complex carbs and you should stay the
same...if your gaining, you really ate the wrong stuff, I went through too
much and have lost too much to risk gaining so I follow the menue and
rules. Good luck.

Yes this is possible. It is not just the amount or type of calories you ate
(though that is a big part of it) it is also the water you have retained
and the waste from all that extra food that builds up in your intestinal
track. You need to start watching what you eat (lots of protein, water,
and low carbs) and make sure to increase your fiber. Doing this along with
exercising should get you back on track. I would also follow up with your
doctor or nutritionist. Good luck!

I agree with everyone else except one thing: I gained 30 lbs post surgery
in a week and it was due to an undiagnosed heart valve issue. Get back on
track and if it still goes up I would get to Dr.

I also agree with what the others have said but keep in mind that your body
can gain weight for other reasons. With me it's EXTREME STRESS. The first
time was after my ex-beat me bad; I gained 60 lbs in 3 days. The second
time I gained a lot was post brain anuerisym. So my body tends to gain
weight in DEFENSE MODE. Just check you intake and it's quality... Stay
away from TRIGGER foods... and check with your doctor to make sure nothing
else is going on especially if the weight continues to rise. Good Luck...
Hang in there.

I gained 6 lbs last Thursday (after watching my weight like a hawk since
surgery 8/07) someone set out a bunch of chocolates in my Apt. Lobby and I
scooped them all up. Didn't get sick at all. That night I went back to my
regular habits, went for my regular walk on Saturday and have been
following my regular eating and exercise program. . . the weight is coming
off. I think if I hadn't been hungry for lunch when I came home, I never
would have been tempted. Go back to your regular schedule and the weight
will come off. Marti in San Jose

I am two years out. Still struggling with the last fifty pounds. I have
lost 140 so far. Yes, you have to watch so closely. I have been going to a
personal trainer. Took a week off when we went to Las Vegas. We walked
miles and miles, I watched what I ate somewhat closely. Went back to the
gym and had gained nine pounds. I was so disheartened. I truly believe that
I have to do the gym five days a week and stick to only protein. If anyone
has any suggestions, please let me know also. I will never go back to who I
was pre surgery.

I had been eating bad for a few weeks and gained 3 lbs. So, I did the
5-day gastric pouch test, google it. It worked and I lost 2 lbs the first
day. Good luck on getting back on track.
