I lost 7-10 pounds a month. However, talk to your doctor as each person in different. Typically, lap band patients lose less weight that roux-n-y or sleeve patients. I was told that if I had lost 50% of my excess weight I would have been a successful lap band patient. I have lost 107 pounds and am now at a 23 BMI. I walk 6-8 miles, 5 days per week. I love my band, but make sure you get as much info as possible prior to your surgery. I am 3 1/2 years post op and still love my band. Good luck!

The AVERAGE that you will have quoted to you is 1 to 2 lbs a week. That is over time and counts people who lost much faster and much slower. At the beginning of my journey I lost 20lbs in 9 days. Then settled in to losing about 10 to 12lbs a month, which would be 3 to 4lbs a week. I'm now lighter by 170lbs and losing about .5lbs a week. I've been banded 21 months and still not yet to goal, BUT, I was a higher BMI bander. I didn't expect to get to goal this soon. I'm close, but not anxious about getting there. At first banders lose less than RNY patients, but over time, they catch up and the loss is nearly the same. I haven't seen the statistics for sleeves or DS, but I'd hazard a guess it's the same.

I am a band patient I am 7 months out and have lost 82 pounds and am only 8 pounds away from my goal weight. I hae not been sick at all and have good success with my band. But I have been faithful following all the rules as to what I can and cannot eat and exercising. Best of luck in your journey. I love my band! Stacy
