If you are truely serious about wls you should quit now. Your time frame
can be any where from 2 months to a year. Depends on insurance, doctors,
and hospital policy. I quit last month on the 2nd when I found out
mediciad might cover the surgery. I have to be tobacco free for6 months.
Smoking causes ulcers to the stomach. That is why it's important to quit
as soon as possible. Best of luck to you.

I agree, if you really want to succeed in this, quit smoking now & do
not pick up another ever again.

Smoking also puts toxins in your body that can prevent or slow down your
healing process. usually you have to be tobacco free for at least 6 weeks
before they will consider doing surgery. But you should ask your surgeon
for specifics. But I too suggest you quit NOW!!! Speaking as a former
smoker herself =)

At least 2-3 months, and most of the time they WILL check blood nicotine
and nicotine by products to check and see. I quit, but cheated a little,
"got busted" and had surg. postponed 2 months. My doc o.k.'s
Nicorette gum, check with your surgeon. Good luck.
