Call your doctor about the pain and the acid indigestion. With RNY at the
bariatric clinic that did my surgery, we are automatically sent home from
the hospital with prescription strength Prilosec. God bless!

I had RNY 3 years ago and started having acid reflux about one ear after
surgery so I don't know if the reflux is due to RNY or not. Anyway, talk
with your doctor. My brother is a doctor and he told me not to take acid
reflux lightly. It can lead to esophagul cancer. My doctor (PCP) put me on
Nexium and I don't eat anything even slightly heavy within three hours of
going to bed.

Do your own research but I was at a seminar with my sister who is going to
have WLS and the new evidence is that people who have acid reflux before
surgery will POSITIVLY get it worse with a lap band and it is a
contrindication to even have it done if you have that history and the other
point was that a large percentage will develop Acid Reflux from having the
lap placed as a side affect similar to RNY patients developing vitamin
malnutrition as a side affect. You should have been told this prior to
having it done. RNY totally takes Reflux away and patients don't develop it
unless there are other contributing factors... like pregnancy or weight
regain causing a distended abdomen pushing up on the pouch.
