Question:
I went for my sleep study last night, and apparently had no esposided till I hit REM.

Unitl I hit rem sleep and that wasnt until 3am.. I am a lil nervous now that i wont the dx of sleep apnea... Not that I want to have that cuz I don't but I was just thinking one more dx and my insurance may be more opt to approve my surgery. I have AETNA pos choice ll.. any one have any experience with this insurance??? Any help would be greatly appreciated.. ~~ Thanks Jennifer    — Jennifer G. (posted on October 15, 2009)

I don't know anything about your insurance but mine paid for the sleep apnea studies and the expenses. When I had lost 60 lbs I no longer needed my sleep apnea machine and I am still doing great and sleeping well. The diagnosis I think did help in getting my surgery approved. I am now almost 7 months out VSG and I have lost 82 lbs. and I feel great. Try contacting your insurance company and find out what their procedures are they should be willing to tell you and help you. Also talk to your doctors and find out how well your insurance has cooperated in approving sugeries. Since it helps with preventative medicine and improving peoples health they are approving more wls. I hope you have great success.

Jennifer, I'm not sure how much information you have received about sleep apnea, but the biggest problem with having the apnea(absence of breath) is you are unable to reach REM sleep. This is why there is deprevation from lack of sleep...
