Question:
Anyone have RYN and heidal hernia?
Had lap gastric bypass & heidal hernia 6/16/09. Weight loss good at 33lbs. Just started introducing solid food. Having problems with some foods getting stuck, vomit for relief. Has anyone else had this issue? Is it the hernia still healing? I certainly am eating slowly and chew chew chew enough. Thanks, Donna — donnaholman (posted on July 23, 2009)

Glad you posted this Donna...I had the sleeve surgery June 18, 09 and they
repaired a hh that I did not even know I had. The first few days were
miserable. I hurt too bad to drink anything. Now I am introducing new
foods and everyday it seems that I am throwing it all back up. I am
interested in hearing anyone else's answer or experience with this. I have
been at 25 lbs. lost for a week now. So aside from the stand still...I have
no real complaints. Just curious if I am a person that needs to do more
experimenting to find foods that I can eat or if the hh is the bugger that
is causing all this trouble.

I had LAP/RNY 4/07 and had a HH repair a year later. I don't think the HH
had anything to do with getting sick - that is your pouch. Did you eat too
much? That's what would happen to me when I got sick. I ate too fast and
too much.

Donna, they discovered a moderate hiatal hernia before my bypass surgery,
and to be honest, I don't know if they repaired it or the surgery took care
of it or what. But I do know that I am 4.5 months out, and I STILL get
food stuck, sometimes as often as 3 or 4 times a week. Last night for
instance. All I had was some tilapia with some melted cheese on it.... and
zap, I was "stuck". Had to throw up 2 times to get rid of it,
then let my pouch settle down for a couple of hours and had a creamy peanut
butter protein shake. At least I got in my protein requirements for the
day.
