I didn't use baby food...Too bland...I pureed whatever I made for
dinner...If I made a roasted chicken potatoes and carrots...I purreed
carrots and chicken in a little broth and ate exactly what I fixed my
family! 2 T chicken, 1/2-1 T carrots and 1/2-1 T potatoes...I made a lot of
veggie soups and pureeds allthe ingredients together...but I liked then
sepeate as well so it WASN'T so much like baby food! I even made meatballs
and whole grain pasta and sauce and I pureed that as well! But I
avoidedany extra of the pasta and rice and potatoes the first year more
because I needed to focus on getting in my protein since I could not drink
whey at all! So when I could eat more and more...I just ate more meats and
smakde my snack protein as well (yogurt, cottage cheese, nuts,
peanutbutter... that sort of thing) Hope that helps! Baby food does not
exactly focus on protein...So it's not a great option, even though it's
already pureed...You might use the veggies, as sides, but it tastes better
if you mash fresh stuff yourself! Just my opinion!

we was told NOT to use baby food. To high in fat/ cal
you can only hold so much food and if you fill up on
baby food you will not get the protein you need.

I never used baby food. Did your Dr or Nut tell you to use it? I too, use
my food processor to blend up the food. It is much better than baby food
and you will get a lot less sugar and fat.
Good luck and make sure you use that food processor.

Never touched the stuff- I am a epicure compared to Gerber's, besides I
need to control the cals, carbs, fat and proteins. No one I have
interviewed, and its in the 1000- ate any baby food post. Good luck.

Hi....I have baby food on my list as acceptable foods for post op...in my
binder bible from the surgeon. I have not started the WLS classes with my
nut so I was just curious about thw whole baby food thing. I am not a fan
of baby food...so I am happy with the responses. I also read the book
"Weight loss surgery for Dummies" (twice) and they mentioned
using baby food for the soft food stage of pre-op diet, I though it
odd...so I wanted everyone take on it. Thanks!

but was not able to eat it.YUK
I blended my own much better
becareful not to purchase much of anything prior to surgery because for
some reason our taste buds change including the protein. Best wished on

I tried baby food once and found the reason it is served to babies. It
tastes horrible, but they can't talk yet and complain!!

I didn't use baby food either, but I found the soups on
www.bariatriceating.com to be excellent pureed!
