I don't fully agree with your nut. You didn't say what type of surgery you
had, but it if was restrictive, there should be a finite amount you can fit
in. Ask them approximately how much you should eat in ounces. Then always
measture out your food to that amount. If you just eat until you feel full,
and your stomach pouch stretches, you'll just keep eating more and more.
But if you actually measure your food out, you won't be as likely to slide
back into bad habits. For instance, I started out with a 2-oz stomach pouch
and couldn't finish an entire egg without hurting. Nearly 5 months later I
can finish it fine and could probably have another bite or two, but rather
than keep eating until that point, I stop. See what I mean?

You you eat til satisfied...and that's all there really is to it...You want
your pouch to stretch slowly over the year so you do not starve to
death....It's normal to eat about 7-8 ounce after a year. Some more but
not much less...At 3 months I could eat about 3-3 1/2 ounces with 2 being
protein and 1 being veggie...I ate 6 times a day...or every three hours.
Now at over 4 years I can eat 5 ounce meat 3 ounces veggie or salad...No
PROBLEM! I've maintained my 150 lb loss all these years...I eat til I am
satisfied...Eating til I am full is the most AWFUL feeling...I hate feeling
full...I avoid it at all costs...It's not worth the icky feeling I get. I
used to love that full feeling before surgery...Now I stop as soon as my
pouch lets me know...I ALWAYS know when I've taken a bite or two too
many...And when that happens I know if I don't stop I'll be rolling on the
floor in pain in about 5 minutes! So I QUIT! NEVER eat til you are
full...Never ever...

For breakfast I have an egg, protein shake or a crustless quiche that I
make ahead and have through out the week. I don't eat until I am
"full" I eat until I am comfortable which is about 8-12 oz of
food. Always eating the protein first. I don't listed to what my nut always
says as she is as thin as a toothpick and probably eats next to nothing
anyway. I don't think the nuts know how we eat as they have not gone
through what we have...so they will only tell you what the "book"
says to tell us.

My surgeon gave me a pamphlet that told me the stages..what and how much to
eat...I stuck to it and had little problems....but....you can eat an
egg....good protein...oatmeal....I used to mix alittle applesauce in my
oatmeal....and try half banana with my egg....just remember to try new
foods slowly....and always chew your food alot ....try and get your shakes
in....important...like water too! Good luck with your new journey....I'm so
very proud of you! your friend, Linda

Here is a easy to remember time chart.
3months= 1/4 cup per meal
6 months=1/2 cup per meal
9 months=3/4 cup per meal
12 months=1 cup per meal
Remember 75% of your meal should be protein and 25% complex carbs.
Best of Luck!

My breakfast depends on the day of week and how busy I am. On weekends, I
eat 'brunch' instead of lunch..but I usually wake up early to at last drink
a jug of water...because that's my trouble spot. I hate to drink because I
hate water...and I don't ever FEEL thirsty. I will sometimes grab a
protein drink or protein 'bullet' for a quick shot of protein while I'm at
it.
During the week, if I have time at work, I eat a bowl of 'Muscle Milk n
Oats' protein cereal. They are extremely handy and I keep a large box
under my desk. They're sort of like the instant cup o soups...just add hot
water. Each one has 300 calories, 4 grams sugar and 30 grams protein and
they come in several flavors. I know they're available at many health food
stores in the U.S., but I live in Indonesia, so I order them online. If I
don't have time to eat that, then I eat a Power Crunch protein bar,
approximately 200 calories and 15 grams or protein....but remember, they're
a meal replacement, not a snack.
I also agree with what everyone said...your nut is NUTS...pun intended.
You DO NOT eat until you're FULL, you eat until you're satisfied. Eating
til you're full is the road back to where you started from pre-surgery.
I'd personally recommend checking if your nut studied bypass nutrition or
if she's just a general nut...because we have different eating requirements
than Joe Blow who lives up the street.
Good luck. It does get easier (at least a little!) as you adjust and get
used to it...and if you're like the vast majority of us...you'll be sitting
there wondering what took you so long to do this for yourself.
