My BMI was slightly higher than 41, but I had no medical problems. I am
nearly 6 months RNY. It is really up to your insurance. Good Luck

With a BMI of > or = to 40 you SHOULDN'T need any other co-morbidities.
However, this does not mean you will not have to play the game with your
insurance company for a while so don't take their crap if they tell you no
the first go around.

Kristin, Go on to your Aetna website or call member services and confirm
that you have the benefit with your specific policy. If you do, serch on
the Aetna website for Clinical Policy 0157 and it will provide the exact
requirements for surgery approval. I was approved within 2 days and am very
pleased with results.

I had Aetna POS. I was approved within 4 days. Just make sure you have
met all of the criteria. I did the 3 month surgical preparatory regimen.
