Question:
Do doctors determine the size of the pouch are they not all the same guidelines?

I was told by two WLS surgeons that the size of the pouch is as big as a
egg. It can hold at first 4 ounces and can stretch to 6 ounces after a few
months after surgery.

I just read in someone's answer to anothers question about how much they
were able to eat & it was because they left that person with a larger
pouch? Thanks, I thought there was a norm, Nancygp

Some doctors do a larger pouch,so I've heard...The general size is a 2
ounce pouch or egg size...Some take more of the small intestine than others
do too...The more small intestine they take the less absorption you have...
that includes, fats, vitamins and calories...but not sugar! Eventually your
pouch stretches out a little as it is supposed to and you do begin to
absorb more as your body ajusts to the surgery and begins to
adapt...USUALLY...however you need to take vits and supps even if you aborb
calories...You can gain weight and still have malnutrition and become sick
from vitamin deficiencies. Get a copy of your surgery to get the exact
stats on your individual surgery...
