Sorry, I tried alli for months pre-op and had terrific results. I think you better ask your surgeon or nutritionist specifically. I have to tell you that Xenical makes a nice BMI graph. The normal sized nurse did not realize that it was from Xenical or alli! They must have posted it not looking at all the other information. I gave away the alli pills to my daughter when she visited me a week ago. I am not having enough food with fat and do not expect to following this surgery. I had my surgery on Jan. 3rd 2008. Did you see The View there is a woman who is trying a five day plan to re-start her loss post surgery. Basically, you go back to a liquid only diet for two days, and start adding foods. You do not count food that sort of slides down like cottage cheese. That is known as slurry to the woman who made up this restart. It is from the Living after Weight Loss Surgery site, I believe. Go to the website for The View to get more accurate information. I know I have a bad memory... I hope this gives you encouragement that there is a solution beyond alli.

There are failed RNYs. Is yours failed? Or do you need to "work the tool" more carefully as far as your eating habits? If the RNY is a failed one there are revisions to another RNY or to the DS. (duodenalswitch.com) Best of luck to you!!!

I was going to suggest the same thing as the previous post regarding your RNY failing. You may need to get a revision or switch to the DS surgery. It seems to me that you should have lost considerably more weight than you did, but it's different for everyone. I'd definitely consult with your surgeon and nutritionist prior to taking Alli or any diet pills. You shouldn't have to do that anymore in my thinking. That's what got us here in the first place. Best wishes and I hope you get the answers you need. Hugs....Cheryl

Hi. I personally, did not try ALLI after surgery, but one of my very good friends did...she became very very dehydrated and had to be hospitalized. Please check with your Dr. before using any kind of cleansers or diet pills. I wish you the absolute best in your continued success! Laxi

I tried it before surgery and it is nasty.I have had friends and family try it.Dont do it.For one it works with hight fat foods only, and you probably not eating that anyways. All you do is shit out the fat,or I should say it leaks out your butt. The directions even say to carry extra change of clothes. Its just oil seaping, yeah I think you loose warter weight from pooping and bcome very dehydrated.I would try the pouch test ,or start over on liquid like day 1 or call doc or nut.I thought you should know this info.Everyone I know says the same thing about it.Sandy Hanson

Everyone is different. My spouse, who has not had bariatric surgery, used it with great success. I (RNY - 7/06) recently began gaining some after coming within a few pounds of my presurgery goal so I am now using alli. I am having success (losing again) and neither of us have experienced any of those "nasty" things I've read about in the above response. My spouse had orange globules in her stools; I have no orange globules but now all of my stools float and don't want to go down on the first flush. Big deal!! So now I have to flush two or three times. I recommend you disregard all the nay-sayers, give alli a try, and see how it works for you. If it works for you, remember to STOP alli after using it for six months.
