I had my first appt. at the end of Sept. of last year, and I was scheduled to have surgery the first week of Nov. But it really depends on the surgeon and how many surgeries come before yours. The waiting was the hardest part, but it was so worth it. Tanya Taylor

My first appointment was in March. I decided to take several extra months to learn new eating habits and lose some weight before surgery. It takes a while to take all the medical tests and arrange insurance. My date is September 17 but that is by choice I could probably have had surgery within three months of the first appointment. Now that I have a date I can hardly wait. I wish you well as you begin this journey to health and well-being.

I inquired about it wls in Feb. decided to take action in May scheduled an appt. It was scheduled end of May. then they gave me a check list of items I needed to complete. Psych.eval. which took almost 3 weeks for a opening. then a sleep study which for some weird reason I had to take 2x the first didnt come out right. nutritionist visit I did 2 only needed one, but felt 2 wouldnt hurt. A cardio/stress which was postponed 4x And bloodwork I completed all this Aug 1,07 So from end of May -Aug 1 pretty quick. And it depends on if you need monthly supervised visits. I only needed 1. So it varies what your insurance requires and all that good stuff. my insurance only took a week to get my approval after all my paper work was submitted, Some insurance can take up to 30 days to respond. Good Luck, Sabrina

I went to my first seminar in March, had my psyc eval in April had my stress test in July, and have my date tenitavily set for the end of Sept. What took so long for me was getting my Dr's office to get all of my records and letter of recomendation to the Surgeon so that they could get the Ins approval. So it just depends on how big of an area you are in and how quick everyone gets everything to the surgeon's office.

my process from my 1st apt. took 9 months, i think i really depends on the surgeons practice and how busy they are.

Mine went kinda fast. I guess it depends on your doctor. On my first appointment I was given all of the information I needed before I left the office. I had the info for the psych. evaluations, sleep study, ultra sound, and everything else. I schedule all of my appointment within a week and had all of my test done within that week. I was told by my doctors office that the sooner I got these things done the sooner they could submit to my insurance company. So I would say it took me about 2 months for everything to take place. You are going to have to call you r insurance company weekly if not more. They are going to play games and say that they did not get certain information. But it is up to you to stay on top of them i did and this is why my wait was not as long. GOOD LUCK..

Well let's see, it is now August 28, 2007 and I started with the first appt. November 6, 2006....INSURANCE companies are the big hold up. To start with then you need to have good corroboration at the surgeon's office. The surgeon is busy doing the operations, the office help should be able to handle the paperwork and filling it out correctly! Make sure they help you...not just give it to you to fill out. ASK a lot of questions too including what your ins. requires in order to have the surgery and do it.

Well I lucked out I started my process July 3, 2007 and sent in all of my ins paperwork ( my doctor office handles it for you) and I was able to get the psych evaluation 3 weeks later July 25 ,2007. And I was able to get an appoint with the doctor on August 29,2007, a patient called and canceled their appointment and that was the next available appointmen. I also and a dialysis patient and I was able to get a recent copy of my blood work (a week old) a letter of recommendation from my doctor and my dietician. The more paperwork that you get done and readily available will be of benefit. I hope to get my date real soon . I wish you luck, Prayers go up and Blessings come down. Lisa H.
