Question:
I had the Rny Jan of 2002--I weighed 435lbs..all these years later I still weigh
270lbs--Is it possible to have a revision done through United Health Care? They are not the original insurance company that approved my gastric bypass, it is new insutance through my husband-I can eat alot. I have not always eaten the right thing, I have not alwys excercised, but I have been really strict this entire past year and no smaller..anyone else experience this? I feel like such a failure. — tylerswife (posted on April 23, 2007)

Were you transected? If your staple line is disrupted, you have, in
effect, no surgery. If your stoma has relaxed, you have no restriction,
only malabsorption, and not a huge amount. Have you been on
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Graduate-OSSG as yet? Many ppl have had
both issues, some have been revised. I'd rather talk to you privately
about some of your options?

How large did they originally make your pouch? Did you drink a lot of
protein shakes? I have United Healthcare and they are great, so they will
problably come through for you too.

Hi Rebecca. I really appalude your weight loss and share in your grief
that you still are at 270lbs. I really encourage you to see the best
surgeon in your town about wls. Revison is very risky and not to be taken
lightly, but if it is possible for you that I am sure they will help you.
As far as insurance is concerned, you are still over 100 lbs, so they
should approve you if they have that coverage, but you have to ask them.
See your surgeon and call your ins company. Best to you. Please research
revision though, don't just ask questions here. The complication rate is
MUCH higher for the 2nd surgery. Take care. Patricia P.
