I had this same kind of pain about 2 months post op. I am not sure why but my surgeon says it is common.

this week I will be 2 months post op, and I am going thru the same thing!! both of my hips are killing me!! I was amazed to find others with this same thing! I thought maybe I developed arthritis in a big way. I too, would be interested in knowing what the cause of this is!!! Thanks for this question!!

I had this as well for a short time after surgery. The reason I got is that your body is re-adjusting itself after some weight loss.

I don't know how far along you are, but I am 3 months post op and my husband is 4 months. We are both having the same problem. I have had it for about a month or so and it seems to be subsiding a little. I am so glad you asked this question. It must be the body adjusting to our weight loss. You are definitely not alone.

It is common after a huge weight loss for your tailbone to hurt. My best friend who had hte surgery also and lost over 200 pounds had debilitating tailbone pain and was put on disability it was so bad he couldn't fucntion. Two weeks ago he actually had surgery for it and they shaved most of it off becuase i guess you don't relaly need yoru tailbone. If it gets really bothersome you may want to see yoru doctor asap to see what you can do now to prevent what may need to be done later. hope you feel better :)

WE get muscle aches because, as our weight distribution changes, it stresses our muscles in different spots. As your body adjusts to the loss, your muscles will adapt. .

I have had some back problems for awhile now but it seems to have gotten worse since wls. As others have said, weight redistribution has some to do with it, but as well, you could have a bulging disc going on. When we spend so much time overweight it can cause degenerative disc disease, and sometimes it doesn't really make itself known much until after wls. Exercise can strengthen the muscles around the spine and give stability. My advice would be to go to your doc and discuss this. And get into physical therapy. Getting in now can keep it from traveling up the spine if you are even just slightly out. I tend to wait too long and try to work it out myself and it's always a horrible mistake. I'm paying for it right now in fact. Be proactive about it and if you do have something going on, you can nip it in the bud before it gets really bad. Good luck!

I find all of your comments very helpful and I love you all for your responses. I am curious if there is any relationship to the type of anesthesia you all have had. Your descriptions of your discomfort sounds like it could very well be nerve related i.e sciatica? Just wondering if there is a correlation. Benita, OH
