WOW! phase 2 at 3 days out. I went from phase 1 to phase 3 but not until
my 3rd week. I am now almost 8 weeks out. Your protien powders are mixed
with liquid. You can handle 4 ozs. of liquid easily. Be careful because
your pouch is not healed and you will hold more than you think. In your
3rd week you will notice that you are only able to hold considerably
smaller amounts. I am still easily tricked and get overfull before I know
it. then oops up it comes! Good luck to you on your journey. You will
learn as you go. This site is an excellent source of information. Deb

There is a liquid protein that is only 2.9 ounces and it's 25 gms of
protein. There is 0 sugar in it. I purchased it at Vitamin Shoppe. It's
2.49 per vial. It's called Nu-Whey liquid protein. They have blueberry and
fruit punch. It tastes like hard candy that has been melted down. There is
also a web-site that carries it. I think it's on IDS Sports ,also the
advertising on OH carries it. I think that 2.49 per vial is expensive for
everyday and maybe three vials, but I easily spent that and more eating out
on fast food daily!! Good luck to you. I'm just 10 days away from surgery
myself.

There are lots of protein powders from which to choose. Just remember, you
need to get in as much protein per carbohydrate as possible (I tend to look
for powders that will give me at least 10-1).
Secondly, the ISOPURE ZERO CARB is a great way to stay hydrated while also
getting in protein.
Third, just remember to choose foods that contain protein-- don't waste
pouch room with oatmeal, cream of wheat and mashed potatoes. And, if you
are in need of something warm, think about sipping broth (it can be
soothing and contains some protein).
Lastly, you can mix the protein powders and sip it over time-- you don't
have to drink it all at once.

I have found a drink at Walmart in the produce section. (other stores carry
it too but it cheapest at Wal*Mart) It is made by BoltHouse Farms. It is
calle Perfectly Protein. There is one that is a Vanilla Chi and another
new one Mocha something. I have never liked any teas of coffees but I
tried the Vanilla Chi and it acutally tastes like you are drinking a
pumpkin pie. As for the Mocha one - have not and will not try it being I
can not stand coffee.
I have also tried the ProFect that others have mentioned and although they
say no sugar added - they are extremely sweet.
Good luck!

Which powders do you have? What are you mizing them with? Your
instructions show 1 oz every how often? We were allowed 1 oz per 5 minutes
of BEVERAGE. So, if the protein is thinner than milk (as some are when
made with water), it would be a beverage, pouch wise. Nutritonally, some
would consider it a meal. I do 6 protein drinks/day, 30g each. Not what I
would recommend for you, esp as a newbie, but once you find a protein you
like and a formula you find comfortable, you'll be able to do this fine.
As long as you consume your whey within about 30-45 minutes, you will be
ok.

Be very careful of the protein drink you choose. The Perfectly Protein
from walmart that was mentioned above has 21g of sugar and 25 carbs. I
could still not handle this and I am 18 months out. Always look for
something that has little to no sugar and make sure the protein is always
higher than the carbs. Good luck with your journey. My surgeon and his
entire office recommend ProComplex. I mix it with 4 ounces of water, a few
ice cubes and 1/3 of a banana(when your Dr says you can have fruit.) The
ProComplex has 55g of protein.

Lisa & all, our bodies can only absorb 30 grams of protein every two
hours. Anything above 30 is just dumped as waste throught the body. So
don't waste your money on anything claiming more than 30 grams. As to size
of our pouches. Your pouch limit is for actual food. Liquids drank slowly
as in sip, sip, sip. Passes through like water to your intestines. And
whilr getting in your protein remember to stay hydrated by drinking at
least 64 ounces of zero calorie fluids of not more. It help with a mulriple
of functions and flushes out the fat your getting rid of now.

I had trouble drinking enough protein, and I was on liquids for two months!
I still have trouble with liquids! A lot of people have said that they
have no trouble with liquids, and your protein powder mixed with kliquid
counts as a liquid.
