Question:
anyone prone to wound infections and still had gastric bypass?

dr said since i was prone to wound infections(had wound vac with my last surgery) that the lap band might be better for me.i dont want the lap band . anyone with similar problem?    — pldavis (posted on September 2, 2006)

hi paula, i did have the lap band . i have gotten three infections in the hospital with three different procedures. with two of them, i almost died, however not with the lap band surgery. so this is important to think about. i am 58 with 8 children. i am so sorry that you lost your son. hugs, sally

If they could do lab band why couldn't they do lap RNY... the wounds (at least on the outside of your body which would be the one prone to infection) would be the same that doesn't make sense to me. Are you diabetic...that is something that definitely predisposes people to wound infections. If you keep your glucose under control tightly prior to surg that may cut down on the risk. Good luck!
