Question:
Another Great West Question!

I have recently obtained GW Insurance and was wondering if any one has had to wait a 12 month time due to a new user and PreExisting conditions? Thanks, Susan    — novgirl0173 (posted on July 4, 2006)

I just showed in my documentation that I had a long history of dieting without any long term sucess. I also submitted letters from my doctors, had to have blood tests and a PSY exam. Great West approved on first letter... greg

Hi this is Susan Again! I wanted to add one thing to this questions....I use a NP not a Reg PCP does this matter? Or do I need to seek a PCP? Thanks for your response Greg!

I just got on Great West in April and I have not heard anything like that yet they just told me by phone that I still need to show 24 months of diet history . I waited untill Open Enrollment to get on husbands plan, so that may make the difference. Not sure what's going to happen next.

I have a different insurance (BCBS) & was denied last summer because I had not had 12 consecutive monthly visists with my PCP. The very 1st thing that must be documented in my chart is weight loss consultation. (I had been to her 7 months straight, but sometimes we talked abt my cold 1st), then I had 5 months with another Dr, then back to 1st Dr for 6 mo. I am getting ready for another go in Sept. Have been using Jenny Craig for 10 mo now (-33 +20). What do you need for diet documentation?

Susan again here....I have only been told the following: Go to Dr get referral to surgeon after surgerons consultation the surgeon will then send letter to Insurance and we will have to wait to see if Ins approves or not!
