Question:
was hoping to see if someone has been through this and had any insight 4 me .

hi i was hoping i could get some feed back about this ... i had my consultation and seminar back in dec . with dr o malley.. and recently (march 2nd ) i had my appt with the socal worker for my physic eval.... after i leangthy chat with the nice man he recommended i come back to canada and see an other councler for a few sessions , but did not specifically tell me what he wanted me to deal with in these new sessions with this new person .. the only things he did say was that he would follow up with me for a phone call to my home for a progress report , and also one more visit with in 6 months ... when i asked him if he thought i would qualify for the surgery . he replied that if i did the session here in canada and did what the nutrionist decided for the phyical excerise (who i seen mar 3rd day after )and attended oa meeting here in my home city . then he would recommmend me for the surgery . what i would like to know . is first has anyone every been in this sistuation . is this common form a worker to tell ppl that . and how does one know if they have dealt with the issues they wanted u too if they were not specific and tell u . any input on this would be very helpful ... i have my first session here with a worker in my home city . and would like to feel alittle more prepared . thank u for ur help .. christina .    — christina C. Hi Christina. I too guess the issue is the insurance. As an aside, I really wanted to read your posting, but without upper case letters and punctuation, I found it very difficult to read. Now, I am profoundly learning disabled, so the problem may only be mine. I want to read posts, and common punctuation would really help. Thanks for reading my thoughts. Mary-Frances Jones

If there was an insurance issue, then the social worker should have explained that to you. Also, if he felt that there was a specific issue that might not some work on your part (whether it was a belief that you might have a depressive disorder, a lack of support that would make aftercare difficult or some other sort of socio-psychological issue), he should have discussed those concerns with you. It is difficult to envision a situation in which you would go into therapy blindly-- not knowing what it is you need to be analyzing. My suggestion is that you should contact the surgeon's office and get a definitive answer-- then inquire as whether you can have your evaluation done by someone else.
