Question:
I am 5 yrs. post op RNY open. Already had an incisional hernia repaired,
and went to the same surgeon...I have another hernia, but it is VERY tender. Anyone have a hernia that hurt? Someone else said it may be an ulcer...do WLS people get ulcers frequently? I haven't been the the doc who did my surgery in 4 years. I just hope my staples haven't popped out or anything else is wrong. Thanks, — Betty Todd (posted on February 14, 2006)

Call your surgeon ASAP, a tender hernia can be a sign of strangulation,
where the blood flow is cut off and the intestine dies. When this happens
its life threatening. Better safe than sorry call your surgeon and if the
pain gets worse get to the ER.

hi,
i had a hernia in my lower intestine, and it did not hurt at all. It
depends where on your body will determines if it hurts or not

I'm in exactly the same situation so looking to see what other people post.
Mine hurts like anything but I'm in the public system and have to wait 2
months to see a surgeon

I'm sorry. I don't have an answer to your question. I haven't had any
hernias. But I would like to ask you a quesiton. Have you gained any weight
back? I'm 2-1/2 years post op and am so worried. I've stopped losing which
is okay. I'm at a good weight and size now and have been very lucky not
needing excess skin removed or anything. However, I've noticed celebrities
who have gained weight back. I'm trying to figure out if this is normal. I
have noticed that I can eat a lot more than I used to. And that only adds
to my worries.

I'm with Bob here, go to your doc soon. Ulcers will not be tender to the
touch, it's more of a burning sensation inside.
