Question:
HAS ANYONE HAD A PROBLEM GETTING THE SURGERYS OFFICE TO RESPOND WHEN THEY SAY.
I FEEL PUT OFF BY THE OFFICE. THEY ARE VERY DRY AND YOU HAVE TO CALL AND CALL BEFORE YOU GET A RETURN CALL THEN YOU GET THE RUN AROUND. I WAS NOW TOLD I HAVE TO SEE A DIETICIAN FOR 8 WEEKS BEFORE. IT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE. THEY HAVEN'T EVEN STARTED WITH INS APPROVAL AT ALL. I HEAR THE DR. IS GREAT BUT HIS STAFF???? — PAMELA T. (posted on March 21, 2001)

That's the way it is sometime. My wls office was great, but my plastic
surgeon's office I am dealing with now is horrible. I left messages 6
different times for the same person. I pointed it out to her and she
sloughed it off. I plan on telling the surgeon at my next visit.

It's nice to realize that I'm not the only one miffed by this type of
treatment. I could be gracious and say that they're overworked...but I'm
not feeling too gracious at the moment so I won't say anything at all :)
If you're the least bit confrontive, you might just drop by the office and
ask what's up? There was a suggestion by another poster a few weeks ago
that it doesn't hurt to schmooze...a bouquet of flowers and a box of
dietetic candy probably wouldn't hurt. I've found (to my chagrin) that
people are often mirrors of our own emotions. I try to be pleasant when
starting out but if met by a surly response usually descend to that level.
If I exert enough control though, I can usually browbeat the individual I'm
talking to into doing what I want or giving me the information I need. If
only I were more in control of my emotions & actions! Life would have
been a lot easier :) Be nice, be persistent, be positive that what you
will succeed! Ok, I'm gonna fall off my soapbox now. Best of luck!
