Question:
Saw a commerical for Pur-Absorb Iron, has anyone tried it and
if so did it work for you? I am anemic and need to find something that will help, Thanks, Cindy — cmoulder (posted on October 31, 2011)

I've never heard of it, but then again, I don't take iron supplements.
I'm strange because I'm in iron overload(a genetic disorder call
hemochromatosis). A good person to ask would be the dietican at your
surgeons' office.

As a nurse in dialysis I am very familiar with anemia. I do not recommend
over the counter products at all. You could be fooled into thinking you are
accomplishing something and in fact be getting worse. You should work with
your doctor to best achieve the hemaglobin and iron levels that you need to
be healthy. Don't get sucked into some fad that probably doesn't work and
could harm you in the long run.

I haven't tried it (in fact, thanks, I'm going to now) but I googled for
reviews (try pur absorb iron reviews) and found some on Internet. The ones
I've seen look favorable.
Hope that helps somehow.

I had VSG about a month ago, and I ended up getting it right before my
surgery only because it was free at CVS (special deal they had). I tried
it twice, and that was enough for me. I am very sensitive to taste now and
no mater what I mix it with I can still taste the metal.

I've never heard of it either. I am also having problem with iron levels.
Too much iron and my liver gets blisters, not enough and I get exhausted.
One doc scares me with her concern for the blisters and another doc says
it's nothing. I am in a quandry as to who to believe and what to do. I am
11 years post-op.
