When was your surgery? If it was recent, I am sorry to say it maybe head
hunger. Go to your support groups of they have them through your surgeon,
or if you have insurance see a psychologist to talk it over with them.
Remember this surgery is a tool, we all must change outreating habits and
thinking. I hope you do not think I am picking on you, because I am not, I
just know I got my life back with this surgery and I take full advantage of
all the support groups my Dr has at the Cleveland Clinic.
Good luck!

Hey! I am 6 days post op and I do get hungry when watching TV and I see
those commercials showing perfectly prepared food or folks enjoying huge
platters of food. In my mind, I know there is no way I could ever eat that
much again at one sitting, and I don't mentally have the desire to. I just
sip on my water and think about other things. I really try, if possible to
stay away from TV or other sources of information that show these types of
commercials. I record most shows and zip through the commercials. I know
that it's all mental right now. In the future, if you start to feel hungry
try to distract yourself with a change of scenery or sip some water. I
believe it will pass.

I looked to see when your surgery was and see you are newly post-op. I
agree that it is probably head hunger and totally agree with Colleen about
the TV LOL!! I never realized how many things revolved around food until
after WLS! Another thought is I am wondering what stage of your post-op
diet you are at now. If you are still on soft solids that can also make
you feel hunger. Another thing is your pouch is still healing so it's
probably not sending a lot of signals to you yet as it is healing and
resting.
Don't rush it, whatever you are doing keep it up. If your body still
insists it is hungry after you eat maybe distract it by taking a walk or
brushing your teeth or talking to somebody on the phone. You don't want to
risk overeating or eating something you're not cleared to have yet. Just
trust me when I tell you it is NOT pleasant and you DON'T want to go there!
It looks like you're going back to work so that should help distract your
head too!
Good luck, from your profile it looks like you are off to a great start!

Dear Kathryn, That came up in my support group this past week. Many people
say they can't tell when they are full, so you need to measure and monitor
your food and just stop. I am almost a year out and have been having
problems with not being hungry, but wanting to eat anyway. I know it's
stress and boredom and am working hard to stop.Good luck. JoAnn
