I don't think the gas would be a problem. But it is high in sugar if I
remember correctly.

Well I did eat dried pinto beans (reconstituted, of course) as a source of
protein until I discovered it was not a complete protein. To make it a
complete protein I had to add in an ounce or two of cooked brown rice and
that makes it just as good as hamburger, fish, etc.

Try eating less processed foods. Unless you made it from scratch yourself.
Try lentils and brown rice for a while. Like many things; its somewhat
trial and error after a while.
Check with a nutritionist or your doc if you are unsure. Gas shouldn't be
the problem though unless you try to consume too much. Good Luck and God

Beans are a great food post op...If you tend to get gas from beans, try
Beano...Gotta take it BEFORE you eat beans or gassy foods though...It's a
great gas preventer to have on hand anyway...As for Pork and beans...The
gravy is molassas and sugars and NOT a good idea at all...Try refried beans
or mashed beans like Hummus (chick peas) Or however you like them...besides
in a sugary sauce!

For me I still eat refried beans. I also take a Beno BEFORE I eat them.
Some times I put a bit of salsa or such on them. Also a goos source of
fiber.

Shelly, check the can, I don't think pork and beans has a good source of
protein. If you want beans though, when I first had surgery, I ate the
taco bell's pinto's and cheese. It is a small portion, tasted good and had
protein. A little taco sauce gave it a nice kick too. Pork and beans has
a lot of sugar. It doesn't matter what I eat, gas is always an issue since
surgery.
