Question:
Can anyone recommend a good protein bar?
I generally have time to make and eat breakfast but sometimes need something that I can just take and go. Any recommendations? — valheller (posted on December 10, 2008)

I like the Twisted bars. They have a pretzel on the top covered in
chocolate. They are hard to find thought. I also eat Detour in different
flavors. They have some that has 30 grams of protein. I hope that you are
able to get some good recommendations. Susan

www.smartforme.com, THESE BARS ARE AMAZING! Also power crunch bars are
another favorite of mine. While you're on the smartforme website,
check-out the drink boxes with protein drinks, they are the best!!

For a meal I like Detour Low Carb Protein Bars... has 30 grams of Designer
Whey protein and no trans fat, and only has 5 grams of net carbs. For a
snack, I LOVE Oh Yeah Protein Wafers...They are NOTHING like protein
bars...they are light and crunchy and low carb and yummy. They have 14 g's
protein and 8 carbs. The Detour bar is heavy and filling and often I
cannot even begin to finish it all at once... But sometimes I can! LOL
Resembles a Three musketeers bar....Chewy and gooey and takes forever to
chew! I love them though and the whey does not bother my lactose
intolerant pouch...YAY!

A friend of mine said her surgeon recommended TRITON protein bars - and
promised they would taste very much like a $100,000 bar. I purchased them
at Walmart for $1.96 each. I've found them to be very tasty and
satisfying, although I can only eat 1/2 at a time. They're quite large and
have 26 gm of protein.

I found the Detour bars to be pretty good, you can divide them into 1/3s.
I've found all of them seem to be a bit HARD and chewy.
I get tired of eating them before I get full! LOL

I really like Pure Protein bars - in the Chocolate Peanut Butter flavor.
The "regular size" bars (available at Target) have 20g protein,
and can be bought in 6-packs for $6-$7. The "large" bars
(available at Vitamin Shoppe) are 30-32g protein, and cost around $2
apiece. They actually taste GOOD. I have a box of them in my drawer at
work, and I frequently grab one and a piece of fruit for lunch. Perfecto!

I absolutely love Doctor's Carbrite bars... 2 net carbs and I believe 19g
of protein (don't have one in front of me). I eat them out of the freezer
because they're chewier. Taste just like candy bars to me. My favs are
coconut and cookie dough. :)

I love the Slim Fast bars, they are good and some of them aren't that
expenisive.
