Hi Jeanne, What type of surg did you have and have you spoke with your DR.? Your Dr.s office is always there to answer your questions. Wish you a speedy recovery and welcome to the LOSER's bench!

Surgery takes a while to heal from. You should expect some pain for a while. BUT.... Severe pain should be accessed by a doctor, specifically your surgeon. Call your surgeons office if you are concerned.

Did you have RNY? I had a revision from band to RNY in August. There was a drain on my left side. I still have pain there. If I sit too long or lay in the wrong position I have pain. Sometimes I get it even if I'm standing up. My doctor told me its because the drain was feeding to my stomache and that I can possibly have the pain up to 2 years. I pry not, it feels like they left something inside me.

If you had RNY, most of the work during the surgery was done on your left side and it is going to be sore for a while. I have seen where it takes a few weeks to a few months. Always check in with your doc to be on the safe side. Best of luck, Dawn Vickers

I am not sure if it is what was wrong with me or not, I had so much pain in my lower right side well actually at an incision, and I couldn't stand up straight for a month, finally after cat scans etc. I found out what it was on my own, or atleast it is my conclusion!! I had an incision that when stitched up had gotten sewn to something else in me, when I bent over one day about a month out after taking a shower and was drying off, something felt like it tore inside of me, that evening I could stand up straight, and thats when I finally started feeling better, the first month, I was like why did I ever have this surgery, now 9 months later, I am glad I had it done!!! This may be what is wrong with you, it could also be a hernia or something, I would call the dr. to make sure it isn't something serious!!

I had lap RNY and I remember that pain all too well. It took months to go away. But just to be on the safe side call your surgeon and ask about it. Good luck.

It takes a while Jeanne. Maybe a 2 or 3 weeks. They tunnel through muscle on the left side, so it can be exceptionally painful.
