I know where you are coming from but everyone loses differently. I had my surgery on 5/22/08 and have lost 64lbs so far but it seems like I am losing more in inches than I am in pounds. I started at a size 22 and am now down to a 14/16. As far as the pain in your back and right side I had the same problem and it was my gallbladder. I had to have my gallbladder removed on 10/6/08. After having it removed I instantly dropped 6 lbs. You just have to hang in there but I know the feeling.

Please do not worry about not losing weight, I hit a level for about 6 months. I had some other medical problems along with that time period. I had my Rev RNY on June 25,2007. I have lost 100 lbs today. In the last 2 months I have come to learn my body more now then ever before. I lost 40 lbs in the last 2 months, we do not know why but something just started working right. I can tell when I am full and when it head hungry. The pain couls be Gall bladder. Just call and ask the doctor. just keep up the good work. Some times we need a break from lossing and just keep going as you should and the weight will come off. I know it hard when you do not see any weight loss but it will start up again. My prayer are with you Carman

Aww...You are NOT a bother! and i think you have legitimate concerns! 3 months is a long time and you should be losing a little monthly...I'm glad you have a doc appt very soon...But you might see if you can get in sooner and put your mind at ease and get to the bottom of your pain. If it weren't for the pain, I'd say just wait...but I wouldn't if I were you and I HATE going to the doc so that's not me saying something lightly. It could have a lot to dowith why you are not losing weight...or it might be totally unrelated and you might just have to talk with a Nut about your eating and exercise. But the pain is far more important to get seen for immediately! Losing near 10 lbs a month is NOT terrible either...That's actually quite a healthy way to go even though it doesn't feel like it right now! I hope you feel better about things...Please write down a list of stuff for you doc and don't let him shoo you out before he's answered all your questions or looked into your pain...Make it VERY VERY known that you are sincerely concerned and losing sleep and all that you said here! Don't be wishy washy...Be assertive. And BE WELL! Good luck!

Every ones body is different and things move at an individual rate. If you are eating as you should and exercising, doing everything you've been instructed to do - then you should just hold steady knowing that you're doing it right and your body is adjusting and changing to it's newself... Also, your paper work or research would/should mention that gallbladder problems and/or kidney stones could be a side effect of malabsorption. I had my galllbladder taken out years ago and it hurts more up like it would be angina or a heartattack... Sounds like yours could be kidney - then this is something that you should be talking to your doctor about. One should not take medical advise off a message board. Hope you get better soon. Blessings, Anita

Being stressed out, depressed, and having some anxiety after WLS if normal. You could be in mourning for your old, best friend.... food. In times of feeling stress in the past, we ran to food to anesthetize those feelings. Now that you can't stuff them down with food, you are experiencing them full force. This is the emotional work you will have to do after WLS forever. Dealing with and reacting in a healthy, positive way to daily living has to become a way of life. It is not easy and takes a lot of time and practice. Having pain however, is not normal. Your body is telling you that something is not right. Listen to it... your pain could be your gall bladder or kidney stones and you shouldn't wait until an appointment next month to check on it. Please do it asap. It isn't normal for your weight to be stagnant for months at a time. I would recommend you begin journaling your intake and perhaps you will find you are eating more carbs than you thought or calories or something. Perhaps you need to change up your exercise. Hang in there, you're not bothering us at all. Best of luck, Dawn V.

Yes that is common I was told by the Doctor that I was one of the lucky ones as I had my gall blader out in 1987 so I did not have to have it taken out. Most people that have RNY do latter have there gall blader out.

I always go back to PEW to help me drop weight when I come to a stall. PEW is simply P=protein E=exercise W=water. I just up all of these and it seems to help. I do know for a fact that the added protein will help you drop weight. Having experienced both gall bladder and kidney stones (2 times in less than a year) I tend to lean toward gall bladder. I know that I had pain in my back (mostly in the center) and the pain in the sides. i also had chest pain. I had my gall bladder out but they didn't get all the stones and I still have attacks even without the gall bladder. They aren't as bad and they don't last as long now though and they are only every now and then. I know when I had the kidney stones I had back pain but it was mostly in the waist area. It is a pain that you never had before (at least it was for me~totally different in nature) and it is a nagging pain. When I had the kidney stones the second time I walked into the E.R. and told them that I have a kidney stone. She asked how I knew that and I told her that once you have one and experience the pain you never forget it. At least I haven't. I would say make sure that you mention this to your doctor when you go. I do know that you have more of a tendancy for stones, wither gall bladder or kidney, when you have wls. Good luck to you, Jennie, and congratulations on the weight loss. You have to remember that it is 54 pounds lost that you must ask yourself "Would I have lost it before my surgery?".

Your pain sounds like it could be related to your kidneys or dehydration? Not sure thought. It is always good to see your Doc when something comes up. Ask him if your iron levels check out ok too. Sometimes back pain and fatigue are early signs of iron deficiency. :) Good luck, I'd be interested to hear what he ends up telling you. Please e-mail me,ok? Darlene [email protected]

U R NOT a bother. This is why this group is great. Because we support each other in all kinds of way. Your concern is founded. I did not see on your profile what surgery U had or what weight U started at. To me 54 LBS is still a big deal. Cut yourself a small break a little bit. As for the pain, yes go to the doctor and have a few tests run. It could be goal bladder or kidney stones. I fully understand your concern and your anxiety as well. The weight will come, no you are not a loser or a failure. Its all very personal for each of us. Keep us posted as to what the doctor tells you. U R doing the right stuff and be strong. Good luck.

Jennie, I am so glad you are going to see your Doctor/Surgeon. He needs to check you over and see why you haven't lost weight and why you're having pain..... Do not be afraid to ask your Doctor questions and also to demand answers from him; you paid him to perform your surgery, and he needs to do everything he can to make sure your surgery is "working" properly. May be they need to do an x-ray and take a look at your surgery to make sure it is intact and everything...... If I were you, I would write down a list of concerns and questions for the Surgeon and take it with me, so that you can remember what you need to tell him and ask him. Good luck and God bless you Jennie!

Hi Jennie! I agree with everyone! Go see your doc! Call them and try to get in sooner. I had my ryn on july 2, and had to have my gall bladder removed in september. It doesn't happen to everyone, but it is a concern. your doc is the best one to find the problem and help put your mind at ease. Also, don't fret over the scale. I was on a plateau for over 6 weeks which started at 4 weeks out. Then when I gave up obsessing over the scale, I started to lose again. Take care of yourself, go see your doc, and I'll keep you in my prayers.
