I would highly recommend that you find or re-obtain the paperwork from the nutritionist that spells out exactly the post op timeline on what to eat when. It is very important that you follow it. I had LapBand so I don't have the info to give it to you. Good luck, Dawn Vickers, RN, BLC, CLC

For me it was two weeks and not 9 days, so you should get the paperwork from your nut as stated in the previous post. When I was able to start soft foods I had applesauce, sf pudding, soft scrambled eggs, egg salad, tuna salad(I didn't tolerate tuna well, but I know many who did), mashed potatoes and yogurt. Remember to get sugar free or no sugar added....you should look at the box and it's sugested that you have foods with 5 or less grams of sugar. I can tolerate up to 7 grams in many foods, but I wouldn't suggest any more than that.

I had lap rny may 5 and i was on clear liquids for 1 week, and full liquids for the next two. now i can have scrambled eggs, moist chicken, turkey and egg salad. my nut didn't say to puree anything but I have been doing that. your nut might have put you on a different diet. Arden

For week two (and most of week three) I lived on mostly warm mashed hard boiled eggs (sounded gross to me but it's SOOOO good with just a tiny dash of salt and pepper), bananas, baby food (the kind in the jar - fruits or fruits/grains only), mashed potatoes, Cream of Wheat, and refried beans. I am at the stage where I am supposed to be experimenting with solid food and incorporating more of it into my diet (I'll be four weeks out tomorrow) but aside from veggies (bell peppers, broccoli, and mushrooms) and a few fruits (apples ... and maybe something else but I don't remember) I am still very timid. I had a couple bites of tri-tip steak yesterday and that set okay, but I tried salmon about a week ago and it didn't ... Just look around the grocery store ... Look at labels ... Find things you think you'd like to eat and buy the smallest package of it. I give away things that I don't like or can't tolerate so that food doesn't get wasted, and I know if I *do* like something I can always go get more!

I also had surgery on may 21 although i had the lap band instead. I am on two weeks of liquids also. I have tried and tolerated tomato soup and a fruit drink that is sugar free with protien powder( its called NAKED) Its usually by the fruits and veggies. Good luck Melissa

I also recommend that you contact your surgeon's office and or nutritionist. In the meanwhile on my profile I have blogged my surgeons protocol. Good luck and stay hydrated! Jen R

There's not a whole lot to eat early out. Stay with liquids and very soft foods that won't irritate your insides. Yogurt, plain or mixed with flavoring, is good. Runny oatmeal is also OK. Don't push foods too quickly, and if you can get in to see the nutritionist, that'll be best.

i had to do puree foods for 2 weeks after my RNY then i could slowly advance my diet. while in the puree stage i ate: sf puddings and jello, thin mashed potatoes with A1 sauce (yeah i know it sounds weird, but i craved A1 sauce and Hot sauce), thin refried beans with melted cheese on top, thin oatmeal, low carb slim fasts and soups. good luck and take your time with the eating.... it won't be long before you can eat pretty much whatever you want, but don't rush things!!!! hope this helps...Holly
