Have you been cleared for exercise? Walking does help but also from prior endoscopy procedure and the same type of gas....air gets put into the scopes and builds up in the abdomen..... I found lying on the floor on my back and doing some leg lifts till feet are above the waist and then lowering them, let the legs fall (gently) to the sides will help. Try some yoga stretches also. Hope this helps?

Check with your doctor before doing this, but, I got Mylocon (not sure about the spelling) drops like they give babies for gas, and it really helped. Tastes yucky but hey, if it helps, who cares, right? You can buy them in the pharmacy on the shelf.

I had really bad gas pain after my lap band surgery (from the laprascopic procedure). I took the maximum dose of Gas x that the box allowed. I have also discovered a tiny gas pill called Phazyme (at Wal Mart) that works even faster. Good Luck.

Everyone has already told you about the two over the counter options. Also, walk. When you go to walmart to by the GasX, take a cart and walk the isle. Take a water with you and dring as you walk. The gas will burp up when you replace it in your gut with water. Then Keep up the walking every day. When I started to do some excersize, I was able to eliminate the gas. Every day gets better. It just is tough in the beginning. Best of success to you!

EXERCISE, even walking will help the gas problem. It moves things around. I note your surgery was recent, so you may not have started exercising yet. I only do walking for my exercise. Start out slow, a few houses at a time down the block. Or if bad weather, use a local mall to get out of the cold or rain. Repeat the same distance once or twice daily for a few days, then extend the distance. I think this will help your gas go away. You may want to consult your surgeon, and I bet one of the first questions asked, is are you exercising yet??

Hi Kathy. Processing gas is a lifelong challenge. I am a gassy girl, a very gassy girl. When I get a build up, I have to walk it off, or I lay on my back and "kneed" my abdomen for a while. It is uncomfortable, and it does pass. You have just been re-wired and you have to be careful to heal up, you are just a few weeks post op. Now is a good time to begin walking. I had surgery on 3/16 - 4 years ago, and in two weeks post surgery I began walking 2 miles a day. You do the same. Get out there and walk your neighborhood. It is very good for your intestinal health. Protect your intestines by drinking water and exercise. Very important. Take care. Patricia P.

The Probiotics in pills or as in yogurt help A LOT!!! And stay away from anything that is not a complex carb... Example: eating peanut butter on a saltine sounds like a good choice...but the saltine is a regular carb and the peanut butter is an incomplete protein...Put Peanut butter on a whole wheat cracker and you've made a complete protein and got rid of a bad carb. Carbs will give you gas...The more variety of foods you add to your meals over a few days...the more you make incomplete proteins into all the amino proteins (complete) that you need to feed your muscles...and the less gas you will have. You might also have started to become lactose intolerant from dairy (particularly liquid dairy). You'll know soon enough when the gas turns to sweaty, achy doubled over pain and nausea after anything with milk or whey.

I had my surgery the same day and what helped me was the Gas-X strips. They dissolve on your tongue and dont taste too bad. I got the peppermint flavor. Also try laying on your right side for an hour or so then get up and walk around. Then lay on your left side and walk around. And just keep going back and forth. That really helped me to get the gas moving. And of course just walking in general. But try the strips and laying on your right side....that was my saving grace and once that gas goes....you will feel so much better. Good Luck!!!!

Gas X with Malox is the only thing that works for me. Also try propping pillows up under your pelvic area (face down) and hang your head over the edge of the bed. Some how that funky position works to relieve has too. I thought my sister was nuts when she told me to do it but it worked and I felt much better.

I recommend Gas-X. Works very quick and is safe to your system

Hi Kathy, I had my surgery 3-10-08 . I relieved ALOT of my gas by walking as much as I could stand. Even if it was just a stroll around the yard. That has been a lifesaver for me! Best of luck to ya! Angela

Hi. I had my surgery on the 19th and am also having days where I have a lot of gas. It gets so painful to even walk it off as most of the advice says. Today I took my pain medication and took a 2 hour nap. When I woke up I felt tons better and the gas started coming out. I took a Gas-X later in the day just in case. What caused my gas this afternoon was the sugar free carnation instant breakfast I had this morning. Guess I won't have that anymore. Good luck to you and hang in there! You are doing great!
