do you have any guidance from your nutritionists? our program gave us recipes and suggestions which included nutritional info. i also have a copy of 'weigh loss surgery for dummies' which also includes recipes and useful info, but i refer back to my south beach book (walmart ~$10) for low starch veggies. check the atkins or southbeach diet books or websites. for low fat proteins, check labels and go with choices that contain 30% or less fat; basically your lean cuts of meat, low fat cheeses. good luck, perhaps future posters will have more in-depth info.

Fluffy has it on- you want to eat low glycemic carbs, easy to eat proteins- be kind to your system. South Beach is one of the best ways to go!

You don't mention how far you are out from your surgery. There are several good books out there that have dietary guidelines for before and after surgery with all of the stages listed. The 3 that I have at my desk at all times is "Gastric Bypass Surgery" by Mary P McGowan (isbn# 0071431926) and "Doctor's guide to WLS" by Louis Flancbaum, MD (isbn# 05533824620) "Patient's Guide to WLS" by April Hochstrasser, PhD (isbn#1578261651) good resources.... for anyone, no matter what stage in the process you are. Out of the GBS book it says that your typical diet for 1 yr out is like this: Day One: B: 1 cup LF, SF yogurt (120cal/8oz); 1/2 banana sliced. midam beverage: 1 - 8oz glass or water or decaf coffee/tea L: 3oz sliced chicken/turkey; 1/2 WW pital pocket; 1/4 c vegs; 1tsp LF may. afternoon bev: same as mid am D: 4oz shrimp cocktail w/cocktail sauce; 1/2 c rice pilaf; 1/2 c asparagus; 1 T light tub marg Ev Snack: 1oz LF Cheddar; 1/2 peeled apple Bev before bed: 1-2 cups water Day 2: 1/4 c egg beaters or 2 egg wht omelet w/1/2 oz grated low fat cheddar and 1/2 c of a mix of red/yellow peppers) mix ingredients and cook in a pan sprayed with cooking spray. S&P to taste); 1/2 slice WW toast topped with spray marg Mid am bev: 2 glasses water L: low cal microwavable dinner such as Lean Cuisine, WW or Healthy Choice mid noon: 2 glasses of water or low cal beverage D: 3 oz grilled tuna; 1/2 c couscous; 1 tsp tub marg/ 1/2 c broccoli or summer squash Ev Snack: 1 graham cracker topped iwth 1-2 tsp natural PB; 4oz skim milk Bev before bed 8oz water you should be aiming for no more than 1000-1200cal daily... hope this helps.....
