Question:
Hiccups or Gas?

I'm 2 days post op, and I have times when I feel like I need to belch, but its like a hiccup, and it pulls air in. Its very painful. Has anyone else experinced this?    — Jason D. (posted on April 22, 2006)

this is a natural thing. You just need to drink slower, and walk. You could still have gas in your system from surgery

Jason, I'm still Pre-Op by 16 days. But I've been assured that will be after/during surgery gases. Which need to come out. I've been told if we hold a pillow over the surgery spot(s) tightly it will hurt much less. Mike

I am post op 5 days (operation was 4/18) and I have that too! Also massive pain in my shoulder blade area. I am told it is all gas realted fromthe anethesia. It appears to be getting better with each passing day.

I'm not 5 months post-op, but in the beginning I had the same thing....I even made a gasp sound when it happened...and it would come out of no where. I used to scare my kids. As time passed it happened less and less...and eventually it stopped. When you go in to see your doctor I would mention it to him....
