Question:
My surgeons office submitted my paperwork to the insurance co last Thursday
how often should I call the Ins Co to see if they made a decision yet? The anticipation is killing me. Is there a way to speed them up? Any suggestions? — bhappy1415 (posted on March 28, 2006)

My Dr's office faxed mine the same day and said i should have an answer
within 48 hours . Well least to say ive called everyday and now they say
they are backed up about 3 to 5 weeks ( which about killed me to hear ) my
Dr's office suggested i call like every monday and friday to kinda keep
them on top of things and let them know im really wanting this done asap.
if your like me id call them daily .. but im trying to just call every few
days until i get an answer. good luck and i hope you hear from them soon.

Mine was submitted on a Thursday also and I called the following Monday to
check on it and make sure that they had received it. They requested
additional info be sent, that was done and I was approved that Friday
afternoon. The nurse case manager called me at 4:30pm to give me the good
news knowing that I would want to know before the weekend. Good luck!

While i know my doctor's people are great...i am the type of person that
will ask...and how can i best help this situation. So i started calling
the insurance company to see how it was coming along, and how could i help
them hurry up.
on 2/26 i was told i had been approved my doctor's office official got the
letter on 3/8 for the approval.

My doctor's office mailed my paperwork to bcbs on 3/15/06 I called them on
3/20 to ensure they received it. I'm making it a point to call every
Monday and every Thursday. They keep saying it's with the medical board,
and I keep praying the next call they'll say it's precertified.

this is what happened with my insurance... mine was faxed on tuesday. I
called on wednesday to see if they received it and they told me they were
still working on the previous days faxes,(which would have been mondays)
they then said once they receive it, it has to be put on micro-film another
day. So they didn't actually start reviewing mine until Friday and on
Monday when i called they said they neede to talk to the doctors office.
well evidently they called right away cause i was approved on that Monday.
But again I am sure every insurance is different, so try to be patient. I
know easier said than done... :)
