Question:
ds after rny?

After 10 years of stuggling to get down to goal with the rny can we be revised to a ds without changs in our lives, i.e. cramping, gas etc...?    — randy S. (posted on March 27, 2006)

Randy, You need to consult with a VERY qualified, experienced surgeon. The DS alone is a difficult surgery and requires a skilled surgeon, however RNY to DS is even more complicated. If you are in California -- you are blessed because that is DS Heaven with THREE of the best surgeons in the world. Some surgeons, because of the difficulty involved, won't do revisions and, sadly, one of the best has recently quit. I encourage you to go to the DS Forum and post your question there. I'm not familiar enough with revisions to tell you all the surgeons who are performing it. You can also check out www.duodenalswitch.com they have a list of experienced surgeons there. Sadly, many of the surgeons on OH who list their surgeries will include the DS but either don't perform them or have done very few. As a revision you NEED the best!

I Had my GBS in 1996 in CA by Dr Garry Anthone. Who did your surgery. I think my Dr is in Nebraska. He is on of the oldest doc who start performing weight loss surgery go on line and get his phone number maybe he could give you some advise. I am doing great and keeping my weight off. Good luck! Randy,I was ref to Dr Gagner for surgery by nine other bariactric surgions,as he is the only doctor with exception of dr herron, and Rosslind who have the expertise to handle my case. a revision of sorts of a ten year old surgery, he is at NYPresbyterian, that is where you will need to go. I have been all around the country. because of insurance issues. I have three insureres who wanted me to go in network. now they conclude ok for Gagner and Pomp.

http://www.dssurgery.com/aboutus/Research/safeoperation.pdf Read it -- then join http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DS_Revision/ and learn from people who have had an RNY or LapBand to DS revision.
