Question:
NEED A DOCTOR WILLING TO FIGHT BCBS FOR THIS SURGERY
I am to the point of desperation, I keep going back and forth between BCBS and my GP doctor for the information they need to approve this surgery. They have what they need but still request more from me. It has been 4 months worth of this BS. Are there doctors with a staff thats willing to help fight for this. — evelynvega (posted on March 7, 2006)

Evelyn, so sorry to hear your having problems with BCBS, I also have BCBS,
mine is BCBS of Texas, you should be able to call Customer Service and they
should be able to tell you exactly what documentation they require. I
called my customer service number on the back of my card, and they were
able to tell me exactly what they need. It is also on their web-site, now
it's taken me a few months to get everything they need, but once they have
everything it shouldn't be a problem, what I did was to make a checklist of
the info the insurance required and cross of each item as I have them, then
I will give to my surgeons office to summit, because it doesn't do them or
us any good to summit to insurance before we have all the info together and
the insurance company will just deny it or request more info, I know it's
frustrating but hang in there, you'll get through it. Ask your insurance
company to fax you in writing what documentation they require, that way you
will know exactly what you need. Let me know if I can help, Jen

Evelyn, I have BCBS of Texas. I went through the same thing. I talked to
customer service and got a list of everything that they required. While I
had the customer service rep on the phone, I had them walk to the fax
machine and personally faxed everything to them. I also made sure that
they then faxed me an acknowledgement of everything they received. I also
made sure that I had a copy of everything the doctor had sent to them. I
also found out the name of one of the supervisors at customer service and
would only deal with that one person all the time. After I did that it
only took 5 days to get the approval. Good Luck!! Joyce K.

I am on Medicare and BlueCross. They lost my records, told me they were
shredded, and then found everything. It took seven weeks. I got the
coordinator at Mayo on the phone with me to Blue Cross. Everything was
sent again. Then they couldn't find the material to associate it with.
I called every few days, tried to deal with the same person, and my case
was finally approved.
If a penetrating wound is healed by next Monday, I have surgery on March
16, a Thursday.
I hope you get this straightened out. Be assertive but not rude nor
demanding.
The people in these companies also need a break. Mary-Frances Jones

Thank you all. You have no idea how much I appreciate your info. I thought
BCBS was a lost cause because when I called the Batrix clinic they wouldnt
even talk to me because of BCBS. So thank, theres hope yet.
