Question:
Anyone had a Panniculectomy at the same time as a hysterectomy?
Hi - I'm nearly 5 years post-op Lap RNY and am now facing a hysterectomy (must be done abdominal due to lots of scar tissue) Has anyone ever had a panni at the same time? My weight is stable at 130+ loss maintained. If so, how was it or would you advise against it? I haven't even mentioned it to my surgeon yet, as I need to have another meeting with him next month to decide what's right for me. Thanks. — Terri S. (posted on December 28, 2005)

I had a full tummy tuck along with some other surgeries at the time of my
hysterectomy and would do it all again at the same time! Go for it!

I had a Hystorectomy about 10 years ago and set up an adominoplasty at the
same time. It was wonderful because insurance covered everything but the
plastic surgeon. Other wise they wouldn't have covered any of it....I paid
out of pocket to the plastic surgeon before surgery and insurance picked up
the rest. My PS did the opening incison and then my surgeon went in and did
the hystorectomy, tacked my pladder, removed some hernia's and the PS came
back and did the muscle work and the panni removal, 8lbs....took them
almost 8 hours....it was the best thing ever ...smartest decision I have
made.....now recovery....rough...I had to be in bed for three days because
I had 350 stitches on the closing incison...and it was slow going...the gas
was horrible and painful but when I got home I was up and moving that
really helped...slowly and little by little....I took some Phasyme that you
buy over the counter at like a Walgreens for the gas and that helped
allot.....it was great and I say go for it and you'll be fine....after
about 2 weeks it was clear that I made the right decision....good luck to
you....
