Question:
Mini gastric by-pass surgery
Has anyone heard of this kind of surgery? — mischief85 (posted on October 16, 2002)

If I'm correct, this kind of surgery is no longer done because of
complications. Please continue to research it, as I am not sure if this
true or not.

Stay away from this surgery. It's the same as the juojenal bypass performed
years ago that is no longer performed because it results in terrible acid
reflux and vomitting (I read this in Dr. Flancbaum's book). Even ppl who
have has this surgery a long time ago and who are symptom-free are urged to
revise it to another WLS. This is not to be confused with the RNY gastric
bypass performed using a mini-incision (such as Dr. Goodman does in NYC),
which is fine.

When I was researching the bypass surgery I came across a website made by a
woman to educate people about the horrors of the mini-bypass. She had it
done and had tons of complications. She had links to several surgeons who
also warned against it. I don't remember the site, but if you look up
"mini-bypess" on a search engine you should come across it.
