Question:
Question for the 400+postop patients
I am extremely bottom heavy can anyone tell me what happens to that excess skin when you lose all of this weight. If its hanging now will it tighten up after surgery or will that sucker(the skin) have to have its own personal surgery. — mischief85 (posted on June 21, 2002)

Well my friend I have some advice....EXERCISE EXCERCISE EXERCISE. I
weighted 330 when I first had wls and I am down 85 lbs in 3 months. My
behind and arms were huge! I walk everyday BUT you also at some point need
to find a toning exercise that works for you. Toning will help the skin go
back to the right place better. Richard Simmons has some toning tapes and
equipment or you can lift free weights. Whatever you would find
comfortable. Good Luck and GOD BLESS.

I started at 362, and I currently weight about 195. I want to lose about
another 35-40 pounds. I have been weight lifting since last August, and I
can tell you this, my legs have not improved. I am bottom heavy, and my
legs hang. I am planning on getting them done next year. I am having my
arms and breast done in the fall. They are actually worse. I think weight
lifting is great, I see some muscle tone, but, the skin just hangs off of
the muscle. I think you should be aware that weight lifting and cardio
vascular exercise are great for you; however, it will not take care of the
excess skin. I wish I had better news for the both of us. One more thing,
I am in my early forties, if you are younger, this will diffinetly change
the situation. :0)
