Question:
Feeling overwhelmed, needing financial / insurance advice
With a BMI in the 50's, this is something I've considered for years, hoping to do it once I got insurance (I've been mostly uninsured since my divorce 6 years ago). I'm having some health issues lately (I'm worried about heart problems among other things) and I'm trying to locate a plan under the new Healthcare.gov programs. I feel like I need an insurance that covers surgery, as I don't think I'm anywhere near able to pay out of pocket. Can anyone help? I'm in Utah, and most of the plans I'm finding exclude WLS / bariatric surgery / weight loss programs at all. I'm in my early 30's and I'm terrified that I'm going to have a heart attack or something while I keep working on it myself and waiting for insurance / the ability to pay myself. — kat84124 (posted on January 17, 2014)

I just returned from an ObamaCare seminar and was very surprised to learn
many underemployed and unemployed can get their commercial insurance thru
BCBS, Aetna etc. and their monthly cost for the insurance is paid by the
federal or state government if your income is less than 400% of the poverty
line. A family of four with an income of 50K pays only $200.00 per month
for BCBS insurance. Have you gone on the website to sign up for the
insurance? This could be the first step in getting your insurance. No
insurance plan thru the Obamacare website can exclude any medically
approved surgery. Only private carriers thru work can still do that. Good
Luck!
