Question:
Why am I after 18 months starting to crave like crazy carbs (pop tarts) etc.
This just started about a month ago. It's crazy and is hard to not eat carbs like this . I am by the way coming down off pain meds after having been on them for a long time. In the last 18 months I have had in this order. Knee replacement surgery jan 2011, RNY march 2011, plastic surgery jan 2012, to remove excess skin on stomach. Help — R. I'm not sure that I have any answers for you...as I am in the same boat. I
will be 18months out next month and am seeing the carbs creep back in. Now
I crave them. Carbs were my downfall before surgery so I am needing to
make changes now. I haven't gained any weight, but I did stop losing and am
still 13 pounds from goal. What I started to do as of TODAY:
1. Got my journal back out...if I eat it I MUST write it down.
2. Carb detox---for the next week I am going back to protein shakes,
chicken and veggies.
3. Throwing away the crackers, chips, etc. I just can't have them around.
4. Increasing my water--drink, drink, drink.
5. Increasing my walks.
I have come to the conclusion that I will never be able to eat carbs like I
used to...I think they are truly an addiction~the more I eat them the more
I crave them.
I'm 42 and scheduling a hip replacement this fall or winter...so I know
that I need to get this under control now!
My only suggestion would be to sit back and look at your eating patterns
the past few weeks. Write down some changes you need to make and then force
yourself into some action~either cold turkey like I have to do or make a
change a week until you've tackled them all.
I will be praying for you as I understand this isn't easy!! Keep up the
fight, you are worth it!
