Question:
Gaining weight, now what
I have gained weight this winter although I changed nothing. My diet is the same, and I exercise 3-4 times per week. Not sure why the weight is coming back on...I had a gastic by pass back in 2004. I think my protein is low as I quit my protein drinks a while ago. Would this cause weight gain? — SrSharon927 (posted on March 26, 2011)

Yes I find if my protein is low, if I am not getting my vitamins all in and
I don't get enough exercise, I start gaining. Up your protein and maybe mix
up your exercise, I bet you will start dropping those pounds again. I am
struggling with 5 lbs I just recently gained too. But determined to get it
off now before it is more to lose!
Good Luck

I agree. I have noticed in myself that when I am not getting enough
protien in I catch myself snacking more. Remember that protien helps you
feel full. I am also struggling with 10lbs that snuck up on me when they
changed my migraine meds. Keep up the vitamins and protien and try adding
just one more day of some kind of activity. It is working for me. Thank
God

Yes, the key is protein as it "stays" with us longer so we feel
more hungrier. I too had my Open RNY April 23, 2004 and I have just
recently gotten back on the OH site. It helped reading my old journal
entries to remind me of how far I've come. It's easy to forget all the
extra things we who have had WLS need to do to stay healthy. For me, it's
remembering my protein and drinking a lot of water. Good luck! Friend me on
this site as I'm looking to network with people who had WLS in 2004 like
me. Thanks!

You might want to journal what you are eating and drinking. This will give
you an idea of how much portein you are getting and will help you fine
tweak areas that need readusting.

You took the question right out of my mouth. I had my surgery 8/4/2004
& have gained 8-10 pounds the past year. I think I will start back w/my
protein shakes & shake up the exercise a bit. It is easy to get
discouraged, but don't beat yourself up. We've come along way & should
be proud of our accomplishments. Seven years is along time & bad habits
are quick to take hold. I'm sure we both know what we need to do - get back
to basics - protein, Protein, PROTEIN!!!! Good luck to us all. The support
from this site is Great.
