Hi, I'm not just starting out, had surgery Tuesday. I had a total of maybe
5 appts. Init.appt with surgical team, psych appt and follow up, my ekg
took place on my first surgical team visit, the ekg came back borderline so
I had to see a cardiologist (2) appts. Heart is fine, then my last appt
with the surgical team consisted of Surgeon, Nutritionist and
anethesiologist..then off to surgery two weeks later. My insurance was
great, handled everything through phone calls and emails. One thing my
insurance company requires is to work with one of their nutrionist for two
years and the cost is $1400.00. My nutrionist schedules phone appts and we
talk for about 20 minutes. Is it worth it? Yes. As I said I am out of
surgery for 3 days and I feel great.

I have just finished my paperwork and approvals from my doctors now pending
approval. I really can't make sense out of the other, but realize too I
take it one step at a time.

I'm over two years out, and I do have to say it took me almost two years of
apealing and fighting to get my surgery in the first place. The
disappointments of being denied, (one the day before my scheduled surgery)
and the fighting to get approved really made me want to succeed even more.
I think thwn you have the anticipation you really are forced to take the
time to contemplate what you are doing. My friend made the quick decision,
did self pay and then she was in shock afterwards and wasn't really
prepared for what she was doing. Here she is almost two years out and has
already gained weight back, she says she still feels like she jumped into
things. Good luck to you and just remember that the best tings in life are
things you have to work for.

I know how you feel I have been working toward my surgery since the
begining of feb 2011 I now am waiting to have a sleep study done before
moving on. I knew this was not going to be a quick fix and it's sure a long
road to take I sure hope it is worth it and that I won't regret any of it.
