Hello, This can be frustrating because you are expecting spectacular
results quickly. I have lost 80 lbs in 6 months now. My weight loss did not
show each week. I may have go 2 to 3 weeks with no change of the scale.
Then wow! it drops and then I go a similar time frame with the same results
of the scale not showing weight loss then it drops again. Just stick with
your instructions from the Dr. about your food and it will happen. Take
care, Loretta

How many times have you gone in for a "fill"? It will probably
take a couple of more "fills" for your band opening to be small
enough to keep you from being hungry as much as you are now. You should be
getting hungry only 2-4 times a day. Also, if you take a small bite every
3-5 minutes and chew thoroughly, you should be full after about 20 min. (it
takes your brain that long to register that you are full). Eating too fast
and drinking with your meals will cause you to be more hungry. Also, don't
drink anything for 30-60 min. after your meal. The fluid just washes the
food through your stomach faster, causing you to be hungry sooner.
Remember that this is not a race. You have had this surgery to improve
your health. This requires a life-long change in eating behavior. The
Lap-Band is a tool that helps you eat more healthy (and smaller
quantities). I am 5 years post-op with the Lap-Band. It took me about 3
1/2 years to reach my goal weight. I have maintained that for the last
year and a half. Everyone loses weight at a different rate, and plateaus
are a normal part of the type of weight loss you're wanting. Your body
will occasionally take some time to adjust to all of the changes, but just
stick to the guidelines your surgeon has given you, and the weight will
begin to come off again. Also, take body measurements. You'll find that
sometimes you lose inches even though you're not losing weight.
Congratulations on your surgery and initial success. Hang in there, you
CAN accomplish your goals. If you have any other questions, feel free to
ask me anytime. God Bless.

I had the VSG on April15/09, I've lost 61 lbs and have to say I am
frustrated with my weight loss also...I've hit several plateaus one was for
7 weeks.
The thing I keep telling myself is... I'm still losing, I'm healthier, I'm
more active and frankly I'm alot smaller...I've drop 10 clothing sizes.
At times I've focused so much on the scale that I've missed the big
picture. Every change is a success. Don't forget our whole lives are
changing not just our weight and clothing size.
Be encourage... you will lose weight...

What type of surgery did you have? Have you addressed this concern with
your surgeon?

I know this seems very frustrating, but my surgeon told me that would
happen that I would plateau. But he also said that during that time my body
would be losing inches instead of pounds and not to get discouraged.. so
maybe you are losing inches instead.... however, i do think that the type
of procedure you had may differ... im not sure what type you had, but i had
the VSG and have been very lucky and happy with my results thus far.. good
luck to you!!!
