103 pounds @ 8 months is AMAZING! If you are craving carbs that badly,
then have a few. Just know when to stop. If you fall off the wagon
tonight...then climb right back on tomorrow.
As for falling back into old habits, how about taking a walk down memory
lane. Get out your old photos and take a close look. Remember how you
felt...both physically, and on the inside. You've done so well. You HAVE
to be proud of yourself. Hang in there. These cravings will pass. Also,
if you think you need to...there is certainly no shame in contacting the
psychologist who did your evaluation for some support and advice regarding
this matter. Don't be ashamed and don't put it off. Your health is at
stake here. Hang on! This too shall pass!

Your body is saying whoa gotta catch up here. You will notice inches being
lost here. Watch the tape measure, you will still be shrinking to the
loss. Congratulations! Your going great! Make sure you are getting enough
nourishment and calories this will slow you too!

I am at 10 months and have lost 112 lbs. and feel your pain!! I have the
same craving and gave in and over 2 days ate a bag of low salt chips.
Craving gone and am ready to be good again. Feel bad I slipped but glad
that I feel different now.
Don't know if this will work for you but it did for me. Hope this helps,
as I now remember why I did this and hope it won't come again for a long
while.

Man-O-Man you sound just like me! It has got to be a head thing with me!
Once I got under 200, I 'felt' like eating all the time. Once I lost 100+
pounds, I 'felt' like eating all the time!!!!!! I truly feel it is my
'head' wanting to 'think' I'm cool or something! That is what used to
happen to me when I would diet before. I would lose 20 or 30 and 'think' I
could eat this or that! But being a food addict I cannot begin with one
bite and stop! So I am constantly asking for prayer and I am constantly
aware of this issue with me. Don't know if that is the case with you, but
when I review my behavior I KNOW in my KNOWER that I have been the one
goofing off! I needed this today, writing this reply has helped me today,
this moment! I am, too, struggling and MUST get back on track. I know
what to do, I just have to do it!!! Love to you and have a blessed day!

I am also 8 months post RNY. I had my surgery Jan 8, 2009. I have lost
about 110-115 lbs. It seems like two weeks out of every month (must be
when I am pmsing) I crave bad foods and carbs. But after my period I end
up losing more weight. I have hit a couple of plateaus on my journey. They
have lasted anywhere from a couple of weeks to a month and a half. I would
like to lose another 40 lbs to put me at 135. I am not sure if that is a
realistic goal. I would honestly be happy at 150.

One of the things you can do when you are craving carbs is to make yourself
a protein shake, or eat a FEW salted nuts. (I like sweets rather than
salty.) Then if you still want something, eat something small that you
have to unwrap individually, like one of the carmel calcium chews, or in
some cases, ONE dark chocolate Hershey's kiss. (9 is a serving, so one
isn't too bad). At Christmas last year, my husband bought me a regular bag
of the dark choc. kisses. I didn't finish the bag until the end of
April...it lasted through New Years, Valentines, and Easter...and it kept
me from feeling deprived. Know that you aren't alone in your temptations.
Also know that you CAN continue to do this. Congratulations on your huge
success so far!

I am right there with you. I am 15 pounds from goal of 138 and am a size 6
(never thought I would get here!!!) And I am so proud of myself. That
being said, my weight loss has slowed to a crawl. My doctor says that as
far as he is concerned I have reached my goal and that probably when I have
my body lift (Christmas time I hope) I will lose the other 15 pounds or
close to it. I started training for a Century Bike Ride (100 miles) last
week and noticed that I lost 2 pounds this week. So my suggestion is
exercise and drink all your water and then some. It seems to be helping.
I was at 155 for about 3 weeks and today I was at 152.4, don't know if this
helps but hang in there, we can reach our goals. Since I am training my
surgeon suggested bumping up my carbs a tiny bit, so I am eating more fruit
and a tiny bit of dark chocolate, boy does the extra fruit make me gassy I
hope that goes away soon. Take care and know that there are a bunch of us
in the same boat cheering you on. Cathy
