Question:
Do you or insurance companies pay for a fill.......................

each and every time you need one? I am just curious, I had the RNY but I might suggest to my husband that he get the lap band. But are the fills included in the price and when do you get the fills done do you have to pay out of your pocket and if how much are they? Any info is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your answers in advance.    — Kristy (posted on July 14, 2009)

When I still had my band, the insurance paid for the fills. It was a constant battle, but they are responsible for the payment.

I'm 3 1/2 months post-op lap band and I've had 3 fills and one fill appointment that the doctor decided not to do a fill. Each one is $200 but cost me a $25 co-pay. I have CIGNA.

I've had two fills, both were paid for by insurance. Each was a couple of hundred dollars because they had to be done under flouroscope. I only had to pay $30 co-pay. I have Blue Cross/Blue Shield of PA.

For the first 90 days the fills are covered(by most insurance companies). After that you need to check with your insurance company. I have TriCare Prime and they have paid for my fills.
