You get much faster results with the RNY, but always talk with your doctor
to find out which one is best for YOU. Everybody, and every case is
different. Best of luck

Talk to your doctor. Both my surgeon and primary care physician recommended
RNY because of my diabetes. Both procedures will result in weight loss, but
RNY also has an immediate impact on blood sugars that does not occur with
lapband. I was told that one of the reasons RNY patients with diabetes have
a longer hospital stay is to stablize the blood sugars.

Oops. I thought you meant lapband instead of Gastric Sleeve. As Michelle
and I both said, your doctor can explain the difference in your case.

Everyone is different, but the Sleeve (VSG) can provide amazing, FAST,
incredible results as well - both immediate blood sugar improvement and
rapid weight loss. Which procedure is your surgeon more skilled at? Which
does he or she recommend ?

Originally my doc wanted me to do the RNY. I also have an ileostomy. Now
he says sleeve but he knows I really want to get rid of my diabetes and the
complications that go with it. So then he told me RNY. With the RNY he
told me he would have to cut me open, with the sleeve it would be
laporoscopic. He did tell me with the RNY if he gets in there and my
intestines are diseased in any way then he will automatically do the sleeve
on me. I just want rid of my diabetes. I am so scared about gaining my
weight back. I know I have bad eating habits, I just hope I can change.
Sweets are a big downfall for me, so is fast food. Thanks for your help.
