Why am I gaining weight?
My sugery was Jan. 30th. Last week I met with my surgeon and was told I loss 12 pounds. Now that I am on pureed foods I have gained 3 pounds. What's happening? — JSing (posted on February 19, 2009)

It's just water! Anytime you switch over from liquids to food you will
usually see a water gain. It is not "real" weight...This often
happens to people who cut carbs and suddenly add them back as well...Carbs
are mostly water and people think they are gaining weight when it's just
water...and the same when they lose weight after cutting carbs, they are
actually only losing water at first...It will stop and you'll see a weight
loss...You are not eating enough to gain any "real" weight! Your
body will adjust and you'll be back to losing in no time at all! It's
common!

After any kind of surgery, it's possible to have inflammation and swelling.
My advice is to wait a week or two and see what happens. Good luck.
