I had type 2 and is under control now. My glucose count has been as high
as 90 since the surgery. Yippee!!! Also because of the better diet I am
off the cholorestal medicine. I test my blood still weekly.

I had the Vertical Sleeve done in September of 08. I have not been on any
diabetic meds since I left the hospital! My blood sugar tests normal, no
diabetic symptoms!

Hi. I too have had the VSG surgery and take no meds currently. My WLS was
10-27-08. I do still occasionally do a fasting a.m. test and the number
have been normal or very much in a acceptable range. My primary will still
do a A1C on me to be sure. It should be noted that depending on your weight
and how well it is controlled and what meds are used. It may take a few
weeks or a month or so to get the numbers down. Over all there are good
results with this surgery IF U follow the "rules".

I had VGS on 9/5/2008. Since surgery my blood sugars have been in the
normal range and I am off all meds. I just had my 3 months post-op labs
and all were within normal range - including A1C, cholesterol, etc. When I
do check my blood sugars, they are in the low 80's.

I had the VSG on March 2. There was a drastic improvement on my blood
sugar immediately after surgery. By Easter I was able to drop ALL of my
diabetes medications! I went from being BARELY controlled to not needing
medication in just a few months! I now no longer am considered a diabetic.
My blood sugar levels are in complete control without medication for
several months now. My Long term blood sugar tests (the test known as the
A-1 C) all come back with good results (with a level around 5 or less).
This surgery has been a GOD SEND! If you are doing this for blood sugar
control, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this surgery for that purpose! I hope
this helps. Hugh
