Question:
RNY-do the places where they put staples (where they separated the stomach ) heal?
Or, do I worry about breaking staple spots the rest of my life? — mommasharn (posted on December 24, 2008)

Your staple lines heal just like any other tissue. Most of the healing is
done in the first 3 weeks after surgery. That is why my surgeon says eat
nothing that is thicker than milk for the first 3 weeks. You want to avoid
putting pressure on the staples line and the conncetions until they are
healed. Good luck. Paula Chumbley

I didn't have staples. I just had steri strips over the incisions and they
fell off after about a week. Scarring was very minimal and no problems
with healing. Does your doctor actually use staples? You might want to
ask. I've had several abdominal surgeries and have never had staples.

Sure it heals and rather fast too...The first few weeks you have to go
slowly eating and drinking so the line does not tear leak or
perforate...It's uncommon these days but possible...
