Question:
Doc says 5 LBS GOOD
Just left Doctor's office for my 4th fill. May was 257, Today 221 but the last 2 months I am only losing 5 to 7 lbs. I showed concern that the 5 lbs i lost wasn't alot. Would love to know what some of you feel. Thanks from Buellehead in Louisiana — Buellehead (posted on August 14, 2007)

Hello, i am no authority on the band...however; i have talked to many
people who have had your procedure done. The band is a slower weightloss
process. My doc syas for his patients the average monthy weightloss is
approx 5-15 lbs per month. Remember everyone loses @ a different rate no
matter wether we are using the lapband or RNY as our tool, keep up the good
work and don't forget 5lbs + 5lbs + 5lbs, etc..adds up over time and you
will eventually hit your goal as long as you abide by your surgeons rules

Hi Avery,
We band patients lose a little bit slower at first - until we get our
restriction right. Five pounds per month is a good weight loss and it will
get better.
I achieved total weight loss within a year and a half - can't tell you
exactly how long since I am a "milestones" person rather than a
calendar person. I do know, that the full excess weight - over 100 pounds
- was gond within a year and a half and has remained off for over 4 1/2
years.
Good luck and take care,
Vicki

I also had my band put on in May of this year. I have lost 22 lbs. my
doctor is happy with any weight loss, we all lose weight at different
speeds. As long as you are eating what you should be, the weight will
efficiently come off. I have also lost in my clothes size, so the scale is
not always the only thing to think about. Good Luck

Lapbanders lose more slowly. I was frustrated and concerned at first as
well, but after 16 months I've lost over 80 pounds and feel great! So it
might be slow, but it feels healthier to me and maybe we just have a better
chance of keeping it off then. Just follow Dr's orders, eat right and MOVE
(exercise is a MUST)! It will come off and you're going to love it! Any
loss is a celebration, no matter how small! Before surgery, the scale
often went in the OTHER direction, so losing ANYTHING is better than
nothing!
