is there a reason why you are taking your protien? I personally can't stand
the taste of a lot of the drinks, but I love the unjury unflavored protien
powder you can mix it in anything and it doesn't change the taste or
texture at all and if you are a coffee drinker, I love the achievone drinks
that have 20 grams of protien.
try taking biotin, that will help with the hairloss, but if you aren't
getting in all your protien you will still lose some hair. Also you can buy
Nioxin, it will help make you hair look fuller and thicker b/c it made for
thinning and fine hair. they have different formulas so make sure that you
get the right one. if you need to talk you can always email me.

You need to stick to what your dietician gave you......the reason you are
losing your hair is because you are not getting enough protein. At 6 mo
out, your levels should be stabilized. Are you following the regimen they
gave you? I would call your surgeon's office instead of trying to guess at
the answer. Good luck!

You need at least 70 mgs of protein each day!!!!! I use the AnyWhey
tasteless protein powder. You can put it in any hot or cold drink and even
bake with it! Good luck!

You need to be taking Folic Acid for your hair loss. I'm scheduled for Aug
7th and have started them already.

I do take Folic Acid everyday. I don't have a nutrionist any more they
closed down the hospital where I had my surgery and my doctor does not have
one in his office. Im having to learn all this on my own.

As the others have said, you need to get in your protein and get that in
before you eat anything else. Either with protein shakes or with real food,
just eat protein at least 3 meals and maybe some more in between to get
those 60-80 grams in. You will lose your hair anyway, but don't worry, it
does grow back and sometimes even better than it was.

Hang in there! The hair loss happens to alot of us. For me the hair loss
stopped around the eight month. By my one year anniversary, my hair
looked normal again. At sixteen months, my hair was thick and healthy.
The hair loss is scary but it is not forever!!! Sonya in Laurel,

Hi Izzy, thanks for writing. I was told I needed atleast 50 gm of protein
every day. I got mine from food sources, drink milk, cottage cheese, chew
dried meat, etc. I just keep at it and work it out. You can food process
chicken, beef, tuna, etc, and make tuna salad, a meat-salad and egg salad.
These are good protein sources. The thing about hair loss is once it
begins, it is too late to fix it. It is gonna happen. You may not lose
all your hair, but it takes the hair folicle 3 months to process it's
demise. So once it is marked for "folicle death", it can take
upto 3 months to lose that folicle. It could take time for all the hair
folicles that are damages to fall out and then begin to regrow. Don't be
discouraged by this. There is power in the truth. Know it is coming,
prepare for it. I cut my hair very short to minimize the hair loss and
weight on my head, and kept my hair short for 2 years while I lost the
weight and let my hair adjust. It saved me a lot of hair loss and
irritation. If I had lost a lot of hair, I would get a wig if I needed it,
but I refuse to not celebrate or get depressed, after all I lost the 100
pounds I was looking to lose, plus another 20, and even though I didn't
like the hair loss, I was willing to take that consequence for the decision
I made for surgery. With that outlook, I celebrated my weight loss and did
the best I could with my hair. You do the same. Out outlook will take you
a long way. Hair is just hair, and it grows back, no matter how beautiful
it "was" before surgery, it will come back to that again, it just
takes time. We can't have everything, we have to work at it. Work at your
weight loss, fight for your protein, and adjust to your hair. You signed
up for surgery, these are things you have to struggle with. You can do it.
Take care. Patricia P.

Even with enough protein, I still had hair loss. What worked for me may
not work for you - but it worked so well I still take it every day! It is
Juice Plus Gummies (made for kids). Veggie/Grain Gummies in the AM and
Fruit Gummies in the PM. They are like a treat and have the equivalent
nutrients of 17 servings of fruits/grains/veggies a day without the
calories. I might miss my vitamins one day - but never my Juice Plus. Do
an internet search to find a distributor in your area.
